Owning a METClean

Everything an owner needs to know in one place: preparing your site, installation and training, looking after the machine, manuals, parts, warranty and how to get help quickly.

Before your machine arrives

Every installation starts with a check of your site, made while we prepare the quote rather than on the day the machine turns up. The operating instructions for each model assume the right electrical supply, a compressed-air supply at the pressure the machine needs, a full water tank and a level floor, so those are the things we confirm first.

The exact supply, air pressure and protective device differ between models, and some of those values are still being confirmed against each machine’s current revision. We confirm them in writing for your installation, and each machine page shows the approved figures as they’re signed off.

  • Electrical supply and the protective device it needs, installed by a qualified electrician
  • Compressed air available at the machine, at the pressure that model needs
  • Water for filling the tank, and where the machine can be drained during water changes
  • A place for used water, sediment and spent filters to be held for approved disposal
  • Floor space, a level standing surface and room to open the door and load filters
  • For the METClean V, the van, its payload, mounting, power source and water containment

Installation and who does what

Who installs the machine depends on the model. We deliver, fit and commission the S and the XL Multi+. The V is fitted in your van by MET at extra cost or by your own installer. The E, the DPF Lite and the WashPRO are designed to be installed by the buyer, with remote onboarding from MET, and fitting the E is available at extra cost.

Whatever the model, connecting the machine to the electrical supply and any work inside the control panel is for a qualified, competent person. Preparing the supply, the air line and the space is normally the owner’s part, and we tell you exactly what’s needed before the machine is delivered.

METClean E
Installed by the buyer, with remote onboarding from MET; fitting by MET is available at extra cost.
METClean S
We deliver the S and set it up in your workshop.
METClean V
Fitted in your van by MET at extra cost, or by your own installer.
METClean XL Multi+
We deliver the XL Multi+ and install it at your site.
METClean DPF Lite
Set up by the buyer, with remote onboarding from MET.
METClean WashPRO
Set up by the buyer, with remote onboarding from MET.

Training and day-to-day care

The operating instructions say a machine should only be run by someone who has been trained on it. Training covers fitting the filter the right way round with a suitable adaptor, securing it, running and stopping the programmes, drying, reading the results on machines that test and print, and the routine care that keeps the water clean.

Day to day, the operator checks the supplies, the water level, the hoses and the door before each session, and keeps heavily contaminated filters out of the machine. Periodically the machine’s filters are drained, cleaned and refitted, and the water is changed when it reaches the end of its useful service. Before any cleaning or filter change, the machine is disconnected from the mains and any filter being cleaned is removed.

Manuals, parts and consumables

Manuals and revisions

Each machine has its own operating instructions, covering safety, loading, the cleaning and drying controls, settings and filter maintenance, and a fuse designation guide for qualified electricians. Current, dated instructions for your model and revision are supplied with the machine.

We aren’t publishing manuals for download yet, because each edition is being confirmed against the current machines. When they are published, each will show its model, revision and date, and older editions will be marked as superseded. Electrical schedules and similar documents stay with owners and qualified engineers.

Parts and consumables

The parts an owner orders most are filter elements for the water system, adaptors for connecting different filters, and approved cleaning product. Spare parts and consumables are supplied through the MET shop.

Parts differ between models and revisions, so have your model and serial number ready when you order. Adaptors suit most filters as supplied, but some filters need an adaptor modifying, so tell us the filters you see most and we’ll suggest the fittings.

Warranty boundaries

Every METClean machine has a warranty, but what it covers and how it’s delivered differ between models, so we don’t describe the whole range with one sentence. Service and extended warranty plans are available on every model; ask us for details.

Cover depends on following the safety and operating instructions, which is one more reason to keep training up to date and leave electrical work to qualified people.

  • The S and the XL Multi+ have a twelve-month warranty, with an engineer to your site where a fault can’t be fixed with our help remotely.
  • The V has a twelve-month warranty covering parts and labour, with repairs carried out at the MET factory.
  • The E and the WashPRO have a twelve-month parts-only warranty.
  • The DPF Lite has a one-year parts-only warranty for business buyers.

Asking for help

If the machine stops, shows an alarm or doesn’t clean as expected, stop the programme and, if it is unsafe, isolate it before anything else. The alarm screen on machines that have one shows the reason for the stoppage, and a photo of it saves a lot of back and forth.

Call or email the MET team using the details below; the same number and address handle sales and support. Sending the details listed here with your first message is usually the quickest way to a fix.

  • Machine model and serial number, and roughly when it was installed
  • What happened, at which stage of the programme, and whether it has happened before
  • Photos of the screen or alarm message, the printout if your machine prints one, and the area concerned
  • The filter being cleaned, its vehicle or part type, and its condition before cleaning
  • Any recent changes to the supply, air line, water or settings
  • What you’ve already checked, and whether the machine is isolated
