DPF cleaning machines by MET

Professional DPF cleaning machines

Cabinet and bench machines that wash ash out of diesel particulate filters, dry them and, on supported models, test them before and after, so your workshop can clean filters instead of replacing them.

Machines for the workshops that clean filters

METClean is a range of off-vehicle DPF cleaning machines for garages, mobile technicians and heavy-duty operators.

Every machine does the same core job: the filter comes off the vehicle, is secured in the machine and washed through against the exhaust flow, then dried. What changes between models is the size of filter, the level of automation, the drying and testing, and where the machine lives: a workshop floor, a bench or the back of a van.

METClean machines are designed, built and supported by MET (Mobile Eco Tuning), which runs mobileecotuning.com and the MET shop.

Soot burns. Ash doesn’t.

Most filters that come back with a warning light aren’t broken. They’re full.

Every diesel particulate filter collects two things. Soot is carbon, and a regeneration burns it off. Ash is what’s left of the additives in engine oil, and it doesn’t burn. It builds up at the back of each channel, a little more every service interval, until back-pressure climbs and the warning light returns.

That’s why there are two kinds of DPF cleaning, and why they aren’t interchangeable. An on-vehicle treatment is a two-stage chemical clean followed by a drive: it deals with soot and oil, but the ash stays where it is. Off-vehicle cleaning takes the filter out, secures it in a machine and washes it through against the exhaust flow, so the water carries the ash out.

Neither fixes the cause. If an injector, an EGR fault or a pattern of short journeys filled the filter, that needs putting right first, and a cracked or melted filter needs replacing rather than cleaning.

How a METClean clean works

The same sequence runs on every cabinet machine. What changes from model to model is how much the machine does for you: the E and V are controlled by hand, the S runs the wash automatically and records the result, and the XL Multi+ does the same job for large-format filters.

A technician’s time goes into the steps either side of the wash: inspecting the filter, connecting it, and checking it afterwards. The machine runs the wash itself.

  1. Load and secure

The filter is inspected for damage and its flow direction, connected to the wash hose at its outlet with the right adaptor, and secured in the chamber before the door closes.

  2. Pre-test

On the S, air is passed through the filter first, giving a back-pressure reading of the filter as it arrived: the before figure for the customer.

  3. Wash

Water from the machine’s tank runs through the filter against the exhaust direction. On the S a soft start brings the flow up gently before timed high-pressure bursts.

  4. Dry

Compressed air clears standing water on every model. The S adds heated drying in the cabinet. Some filters still need finishing on the vehicle.

  5. Test and record

On the S, a final reading gives the after figure, and a printout records the job for the customer with your company and the filter’s serial number.

Closed-loop water, and where the waste goes

Water is held in the machine tank and pumped through the filter during the cycle. It returns to the machine rather than to a drain, passes through the filtration and settlement system that captures soot, ash and other contamination, and is circulated again. One tank fill supports many cleans.

When the water reaches the end of its useful service, the machine is isolated and emptied following the maintenance instructions. Used water, sediment and spent filters are kept and disposed of through the operator’s approved waste route. The tank and reusable filters are cleaned before refilling.

Normal expected range, not a guarantee. Heavily contaminated filters load the water and filters faster.

Mobile DPF technicians

For established mobile businesses that want an off-vehicle clean as part of a collection, clean and return service. The V is a compact cabinet designed around a van and a lower electrical demand.

Van mounting, payload and power-source requirements are confirmed per installation.

HGV, fleet, plant and agriculture

Large-format filters from trucks, buses, plant and agricultural machinery need a longer working space than car-sized cabinets. The XL platform is built for heavy-duty and multi-service workshops.

Site, installation and training

A METClean cabinet is a workshop installation, so the work starts before delivery. We agree with you where the machine will stand, the electrical supply and protective device it needs, the compressed air, water for filling the tank and how it will be emptied. Requirements differ by model and are confirmed for your site in the quote.

With the S and the XL Multi+, delivery, fitting and on-site training are included: we set up the machine and train your team on loading, programmes, drying, testing and daily maintenance. The E is designed for buyers who install it themselves, with instructional videos and remote onboarding from MET, and fitting and on-site training available at extra cost.

Warranty cover differs by model, from parts only to an engineer visiting your site, so each machine page sets out its own terms. Service and extended warranty plans are available, and spare filter elements, adaptors and consumables come from the MET shop.

Will it pay for itself?

That depends on how many jobs you do, what you charge and how you pay for the machine. The calculator starts from example figures you replace with your own, and puts every assumption beside the answer.
