Who the V is for
The V is a compact cleaning cabinet for established mobile DPF businesses. It lets you offer an off-vehicle clean as part of a collection, clean and return service, so you are no longer limited to on-vehicle treatment or sending filters away.
On-vehicle treatment addresses soot and oil but doesn’t remove the ash that builds up in a filter over its life. With the V, the filter comes off the vehicle and is washed through against the exhaust flow, which carries ash out with the water. That gives a mobile business a second, deeper service to sell alongside its on-vehicle work.
The V is designed around a vehicle installation, so it suits a business that already has, or is planning, a dedicated van. It is not a workshop cabinet that happens to fit in a van, and every installation is checked before we quote.
Not the right fit if- A business starting from scratch without a suitable van, or without a plan for power, air and water on the vehicle.
- Truck, bus, plant and agricultural filters, which need the larger working space of the XL Multi+.
- Workshops that will only ever clean on their own premises, where a floor-standing cabinet is simpler.
- Filters that are cracked, melted or otherwise damaged. Cleaning removes ash and soot; it doesn’t repair a substrate.
- METClean E
- You clean at a fixed workshop rather than from a van and want the same simple analogue control, strap loading and cold-air drying on a workshop floor.
- METClean S
- Filters come to you at a base and you want an automatic programme, a pressure pre-test, a printed record and heated drying.
Filters it takes
The V is built for the diesel particulate filters a mobile service collects day to day. The filter is strapped down in the cabinet and connected to the stainless braided wash hose at its outlet through an adaptor, so water runs through it against the normal exhaust direction.
A compact cabinet means a smaller chamber than a workshop machine, so the filters you can take depend on their size and shape. The confirmed vehicle classes and component types for the V are awaiting approval and show below. Tell us the filters you see most often and we’ll check them before you order.

A normal job, start to finish
The sequence below follows the V operating instructions. It runs the same way at the roadside or back at base, once the van’s power, air and water are set up.
- Check the machine. Supply on, compressed air connected and the air gauge showing at least the minimum pressure set out in the instructions, and the tank full. The filter shouldn’t be heavily contaminated with oil or coolant.
- Connect the filter. Work out the filter’s exhaust flow direction, fit an adaptor to its outlet, secure any pipes and cables, and clamp it to the braided wash hose.
- Strap it and close up. Strap the filter down facing away from the door and double-check it is secure. Close the door fully with the two-handed action and lock it with the clasp.
- Set the wash. Set the wash length on the dial and the water flow on the variable-frequency drive control. The high-pressure burst interval is set automatically.
- Start the wash. Press start. The V runs a prewash, the main wash and a high-pressure impact stage, then stops on its own. The emergency stop ends the process at any point.
- Cold dry. Run the dry function to push compressed air through the filter and clear residual water. Some filters need their final drying on the vehicle.
- Refit and return. Refit the filter to the customer’s vehicle, or return it as part of your collection service.
How many filters you clean in a day depends on the wash length, how blocked each filter is, and the travel and fitting time around each job. Cycle duration isn’t published while MET confirms measured profiles, so plan your rounds with us from your own job mix rather than a headline number.
The cold dry relies on the compressed air available on the vehicle, so the compressor you fit affects how quickly a filter is ready. Plan for some filters to finish drying on the vehicle with a driving cycle.

Wash, dry, back on the road
What the V does at each stage, and what is still being confirmed for this model.
- Control
- Analogue controls: a start button, a wash-length dial and a variable-frequency drive that turns the water flow up or down to suit the filter.Analogue, variable water flow
- Loading and safety
- The filter is held by straps, the door closes with a two-handed action and locks with a clasp, and an emergency stop ends the process at any point.Manual strap restraint
- Cleaning
- An automatic prewash, wash and high-pressure impact sequence through the filter against the exhaust direction. Ash and soot leave with the water and go into the machine’s filtration.
- Drying
- A cold compressed-air purge clears residual water. There is no heated drying, and some filters need finishing on the vehicle.Cold air purge
- Testing
- Pressure testing on the V is awaiting confirmation. Until it is, record your own inspection and the job details for each customer.

Before it’s installed
A van installation needs more checks than a workshop floor. Van mounting, payload, the power source and water containment are confirmed for your vehicle before we quote.

Closed-loop water and waste handling
The V operates as a closed-loop system. Water is held in the machine tank, with approved cleaning product where specified, and pumped through the filter against the exhaust direction during the cleaning cycle. The returning water goes back to the machine, not to the road or a drain, and passes through the filtration and settlement system, built around a replaceable sock filter in a stainless housing, which captures soot, ash and other contamination before the water is circulated again. One tank fill supports multiple cleaning cycles rather than water being discharged continuously.
When the water reaches the end of its useful service, the machine is isolated and emptied following the operating and maintenance instructions, at your base or another site with an approved waste route, never at the roadside. Used water, sediment, sludge and spent filters are kept and disposed of through your approved waste-disposal route, treated as you would used coolant or engine oil, never to ground, surface water or an ordinary drain. The tank, filter housing and reusable filters are cleaned before the machine is refilled. A closed loop reuses water; it doesn’t make the process waste-free.
- Step 1: TankFilled with the required volume of water, plus approved cleaning product where specified.
- Step 2: PumpFlow, set on the variable-frequency drive, runs through the filter against the exhaust direction.
- Step 3: Filter in the chamberWater leaving the DPF returns to the machine, not to the road or a drain.
- Step 4: Sock filterCaptures soot, ash and contamination before the water recirculates.
- Step 5: End of serviceIsolate and empty at base, retain water, sediment and spent filters for approved disposal. Clean tank and filters, then refill.

Owning a V
Delivery, installation and training
Before we quote, we look at your vehicle with you: payload, mounting, the power source, the compressor and how water will be carried and emptied. MET can then fit the V to the agreed design at extra cost, or your own installer can, and your electrician confirms the protected supply to the machine. Delivery is quoted separately.
Training is included. It covers strapping and connecting filters, setting wash length and water flow, the emergency stop, the cold dry and changing the sock filter. Train everyone who will run the van, so the service doesn’t depend on one person.
Maintenance and parts
Day to day, check the straps, hoses, air gauge and water condition before setting off. The sock filter is changed by emptying the machine water, removing the ring of hex caps on the housing and lifting the filter out, following the V operating instructions.
Replacement sock filters, adaptors and other consumables come from the MET shop. Keep the machine’s serial number to hand when ordering, and carry a spare filter on the van.
Warranty and support
The V has a twelve-month warranty covering parts and labour at the MET factory, so a faulty machine is returned to us for repair. Service and extended warranty plans are available on request, and cover depends on following the safety and operating instructions. Support comes from the MET team who build the machine and train on it.
When you ask for help, send the model and serial number, what the machine was doing, how it is powered on your van, and a photo of the control panel and air gauge. It is usually the quickest way to a fix.

Questions buyers ask
Can the V be fitted to any van?
Not without checks. Payload, mounting, the power source and water containment are confirmed for each vehicle before we quote, and we won’t say a van is suitable until they are.
Who fits the V in my van?
Either MET, at extra cost, or your own installer working to the agreed design. Whoever fits it, the electrical supply is connected by a qualified electrician.
What power and air does it need on the van?
A protected supply to the machine and a compressor that holds the working pressure. The air figure from the V instructions shows in the specification; the power source design is confirmed per installation.
Does the V remove ash?
It’s an off-vehicle machine: the filter is removed and washed through against the exhaust flow, which carries ash out with the water. On-vehicle treatment doesn’t remove accumulated ash.
How do I dry the filter?
A compressed-air cold dry clears residual water. Some filters need final drying on the vehicle with a driving cycle.
